CONTACT Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann (601) 359-3200 and your Senators (601) 359-3770 on Monday.
Ask them to support the SB 2103 amendment that protects Mississippi First Responders from the harmful impacts of Tier 5. The House passed this amendment on Friday. Now the Senate must act.
Under current Tier 5 rules, new first responders would face longer careers, lower pension multipliers, delayed retirement, and no guaranteed COLA. The SB 2103 amendment restores critical protections for first responders including 25 years of service regardless of age, 50% of defined benefit at 25 years, a 2% DB multiplier for 25 years and a 2 1/2% DB multiplier for any years above 25, and a lump sum option.
