PLEASE CALL TODAY - (601) 359-3278 or (601) 359-3700 Ask for Representative DOUG McLEOD
Yesterday, the Mississippi Association of Supervisors (MAS) and the Mississippi Municipal League (MML) issued a statement saying the fire and police departments represented by these two organizations are NOT supporting the Mississippi First Responders Health and Safety Act, Senate Bill 2835 due to the ALLEGED FISCAL COST OF THE BILL.
This statement was allowed to be issued by State House Representative DOUG MCLEOD from District 107 - George and Stone Counties. Please take the time TODAY to call Representative McLeod to ask him why he would not support and occupational cancer and heart bill for fire and law enforcement.
If a firefighter is burned or a police office is shot in the line of duty, the injury is covered. What is the difference if the injury is cumulative and is due to occupational cancer or an acute cardiac or stroke event? WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR A PAY RAISE LIKE THE SUPERVISORS ARE, WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP TO PAY FOR OCCUPATIONAL CANCERS AND ILLNESSES.
We urge you to call your Mississippi House Representative and ask him/her to support Senate Bill 2835 as well.
